Antonea Stovall was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from Lakeside High School in 2010. Always interested in people and families, she majored in Sociology and graduated from Georgia State in 2016. After getting her degree, she joined the Peace Corps and travelled to West Africa to focus on Maternal Health in The Gambia. Upon her return to the states, she resumed her job at a local independent bookstore and worked in childcare at Gymboree while studying to obtain her DONA certification. Today, Antonea is committed to helping parents and families of every description welcome their children in a safe and compassionate environment.
"Being a Doula is what I feel I was meant to be doing. Because of the way birth has been treated in our society, there's this fear that it is shrouded in. Misinformation runs rampant and as a doula, I get to assuage some of those fears and fill in knowledge gaps for families. I get to provide continuous support for those families in a time of transition. Specifically, i provide emotional support by just talking to families, learning what they want and fear in their pregnancy. I provide physical support by showing stretches and positions and ways their partners can be there for them during labor."
